The San Francisco 49ers boast one of the NFL's most iconic uniform sets, with the franchise's signature red and gold colors evoking memories of championships, Hall of Famers, and one of the league's richest traditions. But how do the 49ers' uniforms stack up against the rest of the NFL?

It turns out, pretty well, according to Mike Kadlick of Sports Illustrated.

Kadlick recently evaluated every NFL uniform set, taking into account each team's primary home and away uniforms along with their alternate designs. The 49ers earned the No. 2 spot overall, trailing only the Los Angeles Chargers.

In addition to their classic home and road uniforms, the 49ers' collection includes the fan-favorite 1994 throwback uniforms and the team's black Rivalries alternate uniforms.

"The 49ers' uniform catalog is nothing short of spectacular," Kadlick wrote. "Not only are their traditional home and away kits (with the recently updated Saloon-style wordmark) considered classics, but their red and white throwback kits with the drop-shadow numbers are the cleanest look in the sport."

The 49ers finished ahead of the Dallas Cowboys, who ranked No. 3 on Kadlick's list.

While the black Rivalries uniforms have sparked debate among some 49ers fans, Kadlick is clearly a fan.

"Throw in what I ranked as the No. 1 Rivalries look last season, and you've got yourself the second-best uniform set in the NFL," he added.

The rest of the NFC West didn't fare nearly as well. The Seattle Seahawks ranked No. 28, the Arizona Cardinals came in at No. 30, and the Los Angeles Rams finished last at No. 32.
