According to salary cap tracking site Spotrac, Jones agreed to a renegotiated deal that includes an additional $300,000 roster bonus, which will be treated as a signing bonus.
Jones is now scheduled to earn $3.55 million in 2026, with up to $2.25 million more available through incentives. He remains on track to become a free agent in 2027.
San Francisco also converted $3.02 million of Brendel's 2026 salary into a signing bonus, allowing the cap hit to be prorated over multiple years while creating $2.265 million in salary cap space.
Brendel's adjusted salary cap hit now sits at $3.14 million for 2026, along with a $3.6 million charge tied to a 2027 void year.
During his first season with the 49ers, Jones appeared in 11 games, throwing for 2,151 yards, 13 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He started eight games while Brock Purdy recovered from a turf toe injury.
The 33-year-old Brendel started 15 games last season after starting all 17 games in each of the previous three seasons from 2022 through 2024.
